"Europe's forgotten corner"

Jewish cultural journey to Albania and Montenegro 12.6.– 24.6.2020

Travel with Jewish Culture in Copenhagen (JCC) on a tour of the two countries of the Balkan Peninsula and experience both old and present culture.

Albania - once Europe's most closed country - offers a beautiful and different world, lush forests, hinterland mountains, vines, olive groves and citrus pests. The country's history leads us to some of Albania's important UNESCO cities, such as Kruja and Berat, as well as Durres, where unique archaeological finds give a good insight into the city's rich cultural heritage.

Albania was the only country where the Jews were rescued and could avoid deportation during World War II. The small, picturesque country of Montenegro offers dramatic mountains, deep fjords, national parks (World Heritage), ancient Venetian fortress towns and not least 100km of beautiful coastline. UNESCO cities Budva and Kotor as well as the royal city of Cetinje are places where experienced on the trip. On our trip through Albania and Montenegro, we focus on Jewish presence and on the Jewish significance of the area.
